History

Dimech Services, Inc. opened for business as a mechanical contractor on July 7, 1980. James E. Sheahan started the company with no work and no projects in hand, but a few simple rules to live by:

  1. Do it right the first time
  2. No project is too small as it is the customer’s largest problem.
  3. Quality workmanship in both materials used and efficient use of time.
  4. Quick response to the needs of our customers.

Dimech Services, Inc.James E. Sheahan knew that with his experience in the local industry, his personal drive and work philosophy, Dimech would be successful. Jim started in this industry in 1955 as a boilermaker. In 1962, he moved to Toledo, Ohio and worked for a mechanical contracting firm. While working for this firm, he gained experience in all areas of mechanical contracting including both large and small projects.

Jim began the bidding process on small projects for Food Town, Toledo Engineering and other local companies. "Our first customer was Seaway Food Town," Jim states proudly.

In the spring of 1981, Jim moved the growing company from an office trailer to a new building on Angola Road. By 1983 business was increasing at a steady pace and a decision was made to computerize the estimating process in order to stay ahead of the rest of the industry. Dimech Services began focusing on larger plan and spec projects such as: schools, hospitals and large office buildings. These projects, which were tax-funded entities, would later become Dimech's specialty market.

As business continued to increase, it became apparent that the office and its procedures needed updating once again. The payroll process and accounting procedures were all computerized as Dimech continued to hire, train and develop a workforce, both in the field and office.

In 1986, Dimech Services moved from Angola Road to 5505 Enterprise Boulevard, which is in Fort Industry Industrial Park.

In 1990, Dimech started an HVAC Service Department in response to repeated requests from customers.

In 1993, the shop area was expanded and an area for fabrication was developed.

In 1997, the front offices were remodeled and more office space was added. This area now includes a workstation for blue prints, a conference room, and several offices.

Dimech Services, Inc.Dimech Services is proud of its strong workforce and the many years of experience our employees bring to our business. Many of the associates began their careers at Dimech as apprentices in the Local 50 plumbing/pipefitting program. Because of this, they have been thoroughly trained in the Dimech style: "Do it right and do it right the first time." Currently, the company has four associates certified in gas fusion and 10 employees certified to NFPA specifications in medical gas brazing. Both of these services are uncommon among mechanical contractors.

In 2008, Dimech Services, Inc. was awarded the prestigious STAR qualification from the Mechanical Contractors of America. Contractors that achieve MSCA STAR Qualified status belong to an elite group of contractors. These contractors have verified that they uphold a strict code of business ethics, employ the best trained and most qualified workforce, maintain a safety record above the industry average, offer outstanding customer service and focus on continuing education and training for all employees. The STAR qualification shows that our employees are adequately trained and dedicated to being the best qualified professionals in the industry.

Mr. Sheahan states, "It is my short-term goal for Dimech to service our customers in the shortest time frame and the most cost effective manner. It is my long term vision to expand our customer base and project abilities while continuing to build additional, great associates to manage and facilitate this expansion."
